"From a quick look out of curiosity to a real career start – how I became an apprentice at zeb"

Published on: August 18, 2025

Anyone who lives in Münster knows the zeb tower as a landmark – personally, I had walked past it many times over the years. At some point I asked myself: What do they actually do in there? In 2023, I was looking for an apprenticeship and came across zeb’s careers page.

The offer to train as an office management assistant immediately appealed to me: a clear structure, varied content, modern working methods. So I applied – and shortly before my birthday I got a call and was informed that my application had been accepted. That was the starting signal for my apprenticeship at zeb.

1 Apprenticeship with structure and variety

During my three-year apprenticeship I’m getting to know all relevant internal areas of zeb. I’m gaining insights into various departments, e.g. the secretaries’ office, Finance and Marketing & Communications. Right from the start, I’ve felt very well supported. In each of the departments, I have a dedicated contact person to help me with any questions. And where general issues regarding the apprenticeship are concerned, I can get in touch with our training supervisor at any time.

What I like most of all is that the regular changes of department provide variety and new perspectives – you learn a lot, remain flexible and build a big network.

2 Theory meets practice: vocational college

Twice a week I attend vocational college in Münster. The main subjects on the timetable include management and control, business processes and office processes.

The content learned at college can often be applied directly in everyday working life – this makes for a good balance of theory and practice.

3 My daily work at zeb

Starting out at zeb was great – I was immediately accepted into the team and felt at home from day one.

I was particularly surprised by the positive working atmosphere, the nice colleagues, the independent way of working and the brilliant events. There are regular events that offer great opportunities to get to know colleagues from other departments and office locations – for example, zeb.Uni or the Christmas party.

4 My current status and a look back

I’m now in my third year of training. At the moment, I’m getting to know my seventh department, the Finance team, and so far I have nothing but positive things to report. I was warmly welcomed as a new team member, and I’m allowed to play an active role and take on tasks independently.

5 What about afterwards?

The end of my apprenticeship is not so far away now, and I can very well imagine staying with zeb afterwards. Why?

  • The working atmosphere is fantastic.
  • The benefits (events, working from home, further training options) are compelling.
  • The prospects are genuine.

My tip for you: if you are looking for a modern, structured apprenticeship with proper insights into many areas of a company, then zeb is definitely worth a click.
